New Rules to Protect New Yorkers from Hidden Credit Card Fees
Many residents of our community do without credit cards, but most have several credit cards and are happy to receive bonuses on them.
Considering that even essential products have become more expensive, it is recommended to make a list before going to the store so as not to put everything you want in the cart. It is also not recommended to go to the store if you are very hungry.
Nowadays, careful calculations before making purchases are becoming commonplace for New Yorkers. Before making a purchase, many people consider whether it is more profitable to pay with cash or credit cards. As a result of sales taxes and hidden credit card fees, the final amount often ends up being higher than expected.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new consumer protection law that will cap credit card fees and require stores and businesses to disclose additional taxes before purchasing. The law takes effect on February 11 and requires stores to update messages and indicate the total cost of an item, including additional fees, before placing an order. The move aims to provide transparency and protect New Yorkers from hidden fees when using credit cards.
