Collectible Turkmen woolen handmade carpet, 4 x 2 m
A stunning hand-woven wool rug from Central Asia, dating from the 1980s. The rug measures approximately 4 x 2 meters with approximately 18 cm of fringe on the short sides. The rug is a rich, dark crimson (burgundy) color and is decorated with repeating gyuls (octagonal medallions) characteristic of Turkmen tribal rugs. Large octagonal medallions with a geometric pattern in white, orange, and black alternate with smaller gyuls. The main border is decorated with an intricate geometric pattern, and additional borders are decorated with traditional repeating patterns. The edges of the rug are finished with a traditional kilim with fringe, giving the piece a finished and authentic look. Condition: good vintage. There are minor signs of wear.
