Diesel Fleet Mechanic

Fleet Manager/Diesel Mechanic Needed - Yaphank, NY

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to service and repair our own diesel fleet in Yaphank, NY.
This is an internal position - you will be working on our own Volvo and Freightliner trucks, not in the shop with customers.
The ideal candidate is hands-on with tools, but organized enough to manage a work schedule, purchase parts, and work with contractors.

Responsibilities:

* Diagnostics, repair and maintenance of our diesel fleet (engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics)

* Planning and monitoring of scheduled maintenance and DOT inspections

* Managing the spare parts warehouse and purchasing the necessary parts

* Coordination with drivers and third-party contractors for specialized work

* Maintaining repair documentation and service logs

* Work with diagnostic equipment and software (Volvo PTT, Detroit Diesel DDDL, Cummins Insite, etc.)

Requirements:

* Experience as a diesel mechanic from 3 years

*Experience with Volvo and Freightliner trucks is a plus.

* Experience working with a fleet or in a management position is a big plus

* Own basic set of tools

* A valid driver's license (CDL is preferred but not required)

* Organization, responsibility, businesslike approach to work
