You need to be able to resolve issues on-site: starting, battery, driveshaft, minor malfunctions, and, if necessary, find a service station and arrange a pre-trip inspection. A CDL is not required, but English is a must. A plus would be if you can repair roofs, furniture, fiberglass, and minor damage.
