NJ TRANSIT PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
The New Jersey State Transportation Corporation (NJ TRANSIT), pursuant to Section 5 of P.L. 1984 c. 578, the Senior Citizen and Disabled Transportation Assistance Program (SCDRTAP), shall hold at least one public hearing in each geographic region to gather information and receive comment from interested persons regarding the effectiveness of programs developed pursuant to the SCDRTAP. See NJSA 27:25-29. Each hearing will be available both in-person and virtually. In-person hearings will be held in the southern (Blackwood), central (Iselin), and northern (Newark) regions of New Jersey.
SCDRTAP funds cover capital, operating, and administrative costs for local transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities. The program also funds accessibility improvements to NJ TRANSIT fixed routes, provides technical assistance to counties, and supports statewide program administration. Public hearing materials are available in accessible formats upon request, and closed captioning is provided. The public will have a full opportunity to express its views on the SCDRTAP. Comments will be limited to three (3) minutes. Additionally, NJTRANSIT is seeking community-minded individuals to serve on the Citizens' Advisory Committee on Transportation Assistance for the Elderly and Disabled. The committee provides advice on transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities, as outlined in the Program Guidelines and Procedures of the Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance Act (NJAC 16:78).
