Rewarding the worthy It's always a pleasure to recognize deserving workers, and it was especially gratifying that, despite their busy schedules, Senator Steve Chen and his senior adviser, Ari Kagan, found time to come and congratulate the Georgian bakery on its 10th anniversary. It's touching when American politicians support, visit, and award popular businesses run by immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Our community has much to be proud of. In Bensonhurst, at 2270 86th Street, a small, wonderful bakery, Georgian #1 Bakery, opened by immigrants from Georgia, has been open for over 10 years. Not only Russian-speaking residents but also representatives of New York's diverse communities, including Italians and Chinese, order their delicious and fresh khachapuri, khinkali, chakapuli, churchkhela, Georgian pies, and a variety of desserts and salads. Recently, State Senator Steven Chen, who represents Bensonhurst, Gravesend, and other southern Brooklyn neighborhoods in Albany, visited the bakery to congratulate its management on its 10th anniversary and express his appreciation for the excellent service provided to tens of thousands of customers. He presented a special Certificate of Appreciation from State Senators Nino Metellus and Zurab Kikiani and thanked the bakery staff for their excellent work. He said he had purchased the bakery's unique condiments and preserves many times, even before his election to the Senate. Prominent leaders of the city's Georgian community also participated in the celebration of this joyful anniversary: Diana Bagrationi, president of the influential Bagrationi Foundation, and District Republican Leader David Sepiashvili. They expressed gratitude to Senator Chen for his continued support of the Georgian community and for his previous long-term service as a NYPD sergeant in South Brooklyn. It's worth noting that the bakery was packed throughout the celebration, with numerous regular customers constantly stopping by to express their admiration for the selection and quality of the delicious dishes, as well as the hospitality and service.
