Women leaders are with us
The National Federation of Republican Women NFRW is one of the largest and most influential women's political organizations in the country, advocating for critical issues that positively impact and strengthen the Republican Party by recruiting and training candidates and empowering and creating opportunities for women of all ages. nationalities and origins in the political process.
As we know, strength lies in diversity of opinions, experiences and cultures. Women must unite to advance their rights through political access and participation to help women of all walks of life become participants at the political table at the national, state and local levels. Access to programs, information, opportunities and philanthropic activities are just some of the benefits provided to women who become members of the National Federation of Republican Women—either through a local Republican Women's Club or through membership in the National Association.
The New York State Federation of Republican Women (NYSFRW) also unites, informs and engages Republican women and generates grassroots support for the Republican Party, its candidates and elected officials throughout the state. Many of the women are elected candidates, most of whom gain political knowledge and experience through their participation in the clubs. Although the NYSFRW has held that name since 1937, its roots go back to May 1919, when the New York State party chairman called a meeting of 19 women representing different parts of the state to form the State Republican Women's Organization. The Executive Committee in 1929 renamed it the Republican Educational League. The stated goal was: "To unite all Republican women for work in the party as a whole." Local Charter No. 45005910 NYSFRW - Kings County Women's Republican Organization. It is also one of NYSFRW's oldest and largest groups.
On July 2, 2024, the event featured honorary speaker Tricia Turner, President of the New York State Federation of Republican Women, who inspired everyone with her energy and enthusiasm. The guest of honor was Slagana Mitrice, a NYSFRW member who, along with her husband, is a major contributor to the Rochester Jewish community. Inna Vernikova, a member of this organization and a deputy of the City Council of the 47th district, also addressed the audience, being the real inspirer of this club. Also an honorary member of the club is Nancy Mottola Schacher, an attorney and former Republican election commissioner for Kings County. Nancy turns 100 in August and is still active.
Also in attendance were several male honorees: Michael Henry, a former Republican candidate for attorney general, and David Sepiashvili, who spoke on behalf of Kings County Republican Party Chairman Richie Barsamian. More than 50 members of the organization were present, and a list of officers was unanimously elected: Maria Aulicino as president and Svetlana Zelinskaya as vice president. Svetlana Zelinskaya, a district leader in South Brooklyn, has become well known in local politics for her hard work and passion. It’s great that many Russian-speaking women have become members of the club.
Honorary members include current and former members of the Kings County Republican Party Executive Committee: Linda Lyons, Svetlana Zelinskaya, Mara Hanukov, Brenda Horton, Sandra Gillmore, Teresa Augustine, Elizabeth Tretter, Tiffany Reese, Michael Harris. Katie Hatari, Chlorinda Annarummo, Phyllis Carbo, Faina Vasilevskaya.
Active women leaders in the United States have always achieved success and motivated those around them. Now everyone is looking forward to the presidential elections of the greatest country in the world, which will take place in November. In the meantime, many are wondering what will happen next in our great country. We will once again be the best place in the world to live and raise children safely.
