Hard post-war times. In the north of the country, on the shore of the White Sea, the family of the regiment's commissar Mikhail Abramovich Gurevich (wife Bunya Ivanovna, son Arkady) lives in a garrison. They lived amicably, although not very well fed. For the New Year, they gave 3 kg of flour to each family member. They collected mushrooms (dried, salted) and berries. For the holidays, Klavdiya Pavlovna baked delicious pies with blueberries, bilberries, lingonberries and mushrooms. mi. The whole apartment, of course, treated itself. On New Year's, a Christmas tree was cut down in the forest. The unusually fresh smell of spruce filled the entire apartment. The lights were constantly turned off. In the largest room of the Saulins' communal apartment, adults They usually ate at a homemade smokehouse, and Arkady told all the children scary stories about the Hound of the Baskervilles or showed filmstrips on a kinescope that he had built himself. When Arkady was 16, his parents gave him an accordion, and he taught himself to play it. Children and adults adored him, especially 7-year-old Nelya Saulina. After finishing school with a medal, Arkady entered the Moscow Engineering and Economics Institute, which he successfully graduated from. For more than 30 years, until leaving for the United States, he worked in one organization - the GIPROMEZ Institute (State Institute for the Design of Metallurgical Plants). He defended his PhD dissertation (technical sciences), had the title of Honored Economist of Russia, and taught at the Moscow Financial Institute. Nikolay Sergeevich Saulin, having graduated from the Higher Officer Courses in Riga, was assigned to the Kola Peninsula, where he served in the Northern Fleet Air Force Headquarters (near Severomorsk). The Saulin family moved to Moscow after Nikolay Sergeevich's demobilization. Nelya Saulina, having graduated from school, went to Riga, worked for the newspaper "Soviet Youth", and entered the Riga Polytechnic Institute. Nelya and Arkady met after a long time. In 1962, they got married in Riga. Nelya moved to Moscow to be with her husband. They had two daughters - Tatyana and Julia. Granddaughter Polina was born and lives in Moscow, and grandchildren Israel and Julia were born in New York, where Arkady immigrated with his family in 1994. We snatched you from the claws of death... From the cursed disease they couldn't save it. Quietly, in a whisper, tenderly praying, I turn to the Gods timidly... May the earth rest softly on you, May heaven embrace you. People! It's like an insult. Didn’t burn your soul, Don't resort to curses!!!
