NJ TRANSIT Corporation administers the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities grant program in New Jersey under U.S. Code Section 5310. The purpose of this program is to improve the mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities by providing them with financial assistance through programs planned, designed, and implemented to meet the transportation needs of these populations.
This year, NJ TRANSIT will accept applications for the 2025 federal fiscal year. Organizations can apply for grants to implement maintenance, mobility management, and capital transportation projects.
Below is the exact date when applications will be available for S-RIDES.
NJ TRANSIT WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM ORGANIZATIONS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE AS FOLLOWS:
• Federal Fiscal Year 2025: Applications for the S5310 program will open on January 12, 2026 (until 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2026)
Please note that all FTA projects must meet the financial criteria. Applicants must demonstrate the following compliance level: service projects – 50% compliance level, mobility management projects – 20% compliance level, and capital projects – 20% compliance level (subject to available funding).
To be selected, your organization must be an active participant in the coordinated planning process for passenger transportation services. Information about this process is provided in the application.
Grants are awarded on a competitive basis. If your application is selected for inclusion in the statewide grant program and the FTA approves the grant, NJ TRANSIT will enter into a contract with the approved participants for the purposes specified in your application.

NJ TRANSIT also invites public comment on the current state program management plan, which has been updated to meet this year's program requirements. We welcome your comments.
