Meet our people, born in Odessa! No matter where they live, Odessans contribute to society without forgetting their hometown.
It turns out that before the Ukrainian championship match between Chornomorets Odesa and Metalurh Zaporizhzhia, a new star was unveiled on the Walk of Fame near Odesa's main stadium. It's dedicated to Edward Luchin, a renowned sports journalist and a man who has been deeply involved with Odesa football for decades, and most of all, his beloved Chornomorets.
Following a vote on the Odessa Chornomorets website, it was decided to immortalize his name on the Football Walk of Fame. This memorable event became a true celebration for the club, its fans, and all sports enthusiasts.
Eduard Luchin, the hero of the occasion, was unable to travel from New York to Odesa. His friend, renowned footballer Oleksandr Nikiforov, accepted the certificate on his behalf. The honorary presentation was performed by Chornomorets FC General Director Anatoliy Misiura.
In his video message, Eduard Luchin expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the high recognition of his work and addressed football fans with inspiring words: "Believe in and support our beloved Chornomorets and our native Ukraine, and then they will certainly win!"
Football players of various generations, alumni of the club's sports school, devoted "Sailors" fans, and media representatives attended the grand opening ceremony. The atmosphere was filled with pride, joy, and gratitude to a man whose life became a symbol of service to football and sports in Odesa.
