When you need care day and night - welcome
at S&A UNIFIED HOME CARE, INC.
Living in America, we see how life expectancy increases.
This is facilitated by the availability of highly qualified medical care, modern medicines and the opportunity, if necessary, to receive a home care assistant completely free of charge. Our newspaper is approached by readers whose parents or relatives suffer from dementia and who are concerned about the question of how to get the coveted 24 hours (12 hours during the day and 12 hours at night, 7 days a week) of caring for loved ones when care is needed at night and day . There are times when people over the age of 18 have a head injury and also need a home care assistant. We have to collect certificates from doctors, turn to the services of lawyers, even go to court. Some hire a caregiver for cash, others turn to lawyers and still get rejected. Unfortunately, many people think that getting 24 hour uninterrupted care is next to impossible these days.
How to help people who need to get 24 hours - 12 hours during the day and 12 hours at night?
We reached out to S&A UNIFIED HOME CARE, INC and learned that help is NEAR.
Readers' questions are answered by Camilla, NHTD (Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Medicaid Waiver) and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) program representative.
- Camille, where to start?
- You need to start with a phone call to the agency. We can help if your parents or loved ones suffer from chronic diseases and you see how their condition worsens before your eyes, they forget everything, stop recognizing loved ones, their mood changes very often and other signs of dementia.
- How is the paperwork done?
- Paperwork takes about 3-4 months. The program allows you to have 12 hours of care during the day and 12 at night, given for 1 year with a further extension.
- My friend, with the help of a lawyer, was engaged in registration himself, and he was refused, a lot of money was spent, what would you recommend?
- Our agency draws up documents for free. We can also help when it has already been denied 2 times. We help to collect all the necessary documents in order to receive 12 hours of care during the day and 12 at night. The help of relatives at the stage of preparing documents is highly desirable, mistakes are unacceptable, the process takes up to 4 months.
- What is the difference between an NHTD program and a regular service?
- This program is much wider than others, the patient will have
2 coordinators. The NHA coordinator selects personal assistants who follow the care plan set by the nurse. As usual, a personal assistant prepares lunch, accompanies to the doctor and for walks, provides necessary assistance, picks up pills at the pharmacy, reminds you to take them, and provides other services that are part of the work of a personal assistant. In addition to the NHA coordinator, there is also a personal coordinator to work with the patient. This coordinator represents the interests of the patient, provides assistance with any social issues, orders transportation and everything that is necessary for the patient: including oxygen equipment, mattress, bed, tissues, etc. Also, an additional nurse can be sent 3 times a week to provide medical services if necessary.
It turns out that getting 12 hours of care during the day and 12 hours at night is possible!
