Anna Karenina in New York

The play "Anna Karenina" with Ivars Kalniņš: a world masterpiece on the theatre stage.

In December, a vibrant, captivating, and emotional performance based on Leo Tolstoy's timeless novel will be performed. "Anna Karenina" is a journey into the depths of one of the most beautiful and dramatic love stories in world literature. It tells the story of the poignant relationship between the dreamy, tender, and unhappy-married Anna Karenina, a woman of high social standing, and the brilliant young officer Alexei Vronsky. The events unfold against the backdrop of the glitter and luxury of noble life. "Anna Karenina" offers a fresh take on a familiar plot, enlivening the classic novel with new dramatic solutions, vibrant acting roles, and a contemporary theatrical language. Magnificent costumes, vibrant sets, beautiful music, and spectacular choreography and lighting design—you'll experience all of this in "Anna Karenina."

The play's characters experience intense and conflicting emotions: love and jealousy, passion, hope, and despair. And although nearly a century and a half separates us from the events on stage, the events unfolding before the audience's eyes are truly captivating and gripping: they are relatable and understandable to everyone at all times. The play "Anna Karenina" has captured the hearts of thousands of audiences worldwide and earned the sincere recognition of its audiences.

The role of Karenina is played by the incomparable Ivars Kalnins, a public favourite and an actor who needs no introduction.

Anna Karenina is played by Diana Rozovlyan, a remarkable actress remembered by audiences for her role as Margarita in the acclaimed play "The Master and Margarita," which toured North America in 2023 and 2024. She is also known for her roles in the films and TV series "Butterfly Dance," "Give Me Life," "A Mother's Heart," "Kiss," and "Foundlings."

The role of Vronsky is brilliantly played by the charismatic Boris Bogdanov, an actor known for his roles in the films "What Men Talk About," "Anka from Moldavanka," and "Balabol," and a leading actor at the Narva Ilmarine Theater.

The show also features talented theatre and film actors I. Malygina, L. Grinberg, V. Moroz and others.
