Our auction company is seeking an art historian to join our team. We are seeking a responsible and organized individual who enjoys order and art, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Conduct expert appraisals of works of art: determine authorship, technique, style, and period. Assess market value and prepare expert opinions and recommendations. Prepare catalog descriptions of lots for auctions and online sales in Russian and English. Check the condition of works (damage reports) and analyze provenance (provenance checks). Maintain and systematize the database: photographs, specifications, and sales history. Provide consultations on purchasing and collection development for auctions and direct sales. Participate in the preparation and support of auction sales. Work with copywriters and marketers to publish lots online. Monitor current trends and price dynamics in the international art market. What are the requirements? — Higher education in art history, art history, cultural studies, or related humanities disciplines — Experience working in an auction house, gallery, museum, or art fund is welcome — Ability to conduct an expert assessment: determine authorship, technique, style, period, and market value — Knowledge of the contemporary and classical art market, understanding of trends and price dynamics — Excellent command of Russian and English, ability to prepare professional texts and descriptions in both languages — Confident PC literacy, working with databases, understanding of cataloguing standards — Attention to detail, accuracy in wording, ability to verify facts and sources — Organization and ability to work under deadlines
