If you have accepted or processed Discover credit cards
If you accepted or processed Discover credit cards between 2007 and 2023, you may be eligible to receive a payment under a class action settlement.
**YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO PAYMENT UNDER THE AGREEMENT**
To receive payment, submit your application by May 18, 2026.
WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?
A proposed class action settlement was reached in three related lawsuits. The lawsuits allege that, beginning in 2007, Discover misclassified certain Discover-issued consumer credit cards as commercial credit cards, which in turn resulted in merchants and others being charged excessive interchange fees. This misclassification did not affect cardholders. Discover denies the allegations in the lawsuits, and the court has not ruled on the merits of any of the lawsuits. Instead, under the proposed settlement, if approved, the lawsuits will be dismissed and the class action participants will receive payments.
WHO'S INCLUDED?
The Settlement Participant Class includes all end-merchants, acquirers, and payment intermediaries that processed or accepted misclassified card transactions between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2023. For the full definition of the Settlement Participant Class, including terms and excluded entities, please visit www.DiscoverMerchantSettlement.com .
WHAT CAN I GET?
To receive a payment under the agreement, with very few exceptions, you must file a claim by May 18, 2026.
and/or provide additional information to the settlement administrator. Under the proposed settlement, Discover will make payments to eligible class action participants who file valid claims. Under the settlement, Discover has agreed to pay between $540 million and $1.225 billion, plus interest. Your payment under the settlement will be calculated based on a number of factors.
OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO YOU
You have until May 18, 2026, to submit a claim for payment and/or provide additional information. You may also opt out of the settlement by opting out, which will result in you not receiving payment under this settlement and retaining any rights you may have to sue Discover for allegations contained in these lawsuits or related to misclassified card transactions. If you do not opt out and the court approves this settlement, you will be bound by the court's orders and judgments and will waive any claims against Discover in these lawsuits or related to misclassified card transactions. If you do not opt out, you will be able to object to or comment on any part of the settlement. The deadline to opt out or object to the settlement is March 25, 2026. Visit the website for information on exercising these options.
