A grand premiere from the creators of the acclaimed play “The Master and Margarita,” which was successfully held in North American cities in 2023 and 2024! The cult play “Heart of a Dog” staged by the famous Valery Zolotukhin - dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the writing of the satirical story of the same name by Mikhail Bulgakov - this fall on the theatrical stage in cities in the USA and Canada.
“Heart of a Dog,” like many other works of the brilliant Bulgakov, has a unique destiny. The work was written back in 1925, but was banned for more than 60 years and was distributed only in samizdat. The release of the film with E. Evstigneev in the title role received universal recognition and attracted not only new readers, but also aroused the interest of many eminent theater directors who offered their interpretation of the legendary Bulgakov text. Valery Zolotukhin's production is rightfully recognized as one of the best.
So, as a result of one of the most difficult experiments, Professor Filipp Filippovich Preobrazhensky makes an amazing discovery: after a pituitary gland transplant, his experimental dog Sharik turns into a human! Sensational news brings recognition to the world-famous professor. However, the joy of the experimental professor turns out to be short-lived: the question that Sharik - later citizen Poligraf Poligrafych Sharikov - can turn out to be a “high mental personality” is very quickly called into question.
Bulgakov's bright satire is conveyed in the play with amazing grace and persuasiveness.
In the role of Professor Preobrazhensky is the unsurpassed Igor Khalizov, theater and film actor, director, known for the films “The Return of Mukhtar”, “On Different Shores”, “The Dissident” and the performer of the role of Woland in the play “The Master and Margarita”.
