President Joe Biden visits New York to celebrate the dedication of Stonewall National Monument

US President Joe Biden flew to New York on Friday, a day after his debate with former President Donald Trump on Thursday night in Atlanta. During the debate, he stood on his feet for more than an hour and a half without a break.
New Yorkers noticed an increase in traffic in midtown Manhattan during the afternoon rush hour during the President's arrival. Joe Biden headed to Greenwich Village, where he and New York Governor Kathy Hochul attended a celebration of the opening of Stonewall National Monument. The President opened the visitor center with pop legend Elton John. This marks a historic uprising that marks a turning point in the fight for LGBT rights. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the uprising.
As Pride Month comes to an end, New York City has held a parade through downtown. The theme for this year's parade is "Reflect, Empower, Unite."
At the original Stonewall bar and dance club in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, queer people such as gays and lesbians began an uprising. Many believe it is important to preserve the history of the 1969 Stonewall uprising. Veteran NYPD officers raided the Stonewall bar from 1966 to 1969, leading to a five-day uprising on June 27, 1969, where people stood up to those who misunderstood them, insulted them, hit them, and taunted them, leading to a protest and uprising.
Despite the fact that many misunderstood and considered people with non-standard orientation disabled or crazy, it is worth noting that among them there are many cultured and educated people - dancers, artists, performers, screenwriters and others. Many Stonewall veterans, now elderly, are more isolated than ever. The unveiling of the monument and the arrival of President Biden is a sign of respect and, possibly, victory for them.
