TraNa Relief - Recognition from New York State
The stately New York State Capitol, Assembly, and Senate buildings in Albany recently hosted a gala honoring the TraNa Relief Association, a charity founded in 2022 to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. The volunteer organization has become an important source of aid for thousands of Ukrainian refugees who find themselves far from their homeland.
A delegation of about 50 people – volunteers, trip organizers, representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, and refugees – was invited to the Assembly hall. Assemblyman Mykhailo Novakhov delivered a heartfelt speech about the noble mission of TraNa Relief Association, emphasizing its contribution to supporting those in need. These words were met with thunderous applause. It is not surprising that over the years of active work, TraNa Relief Association has been awarded many letters of gratitude and certificates of honor.
On this day, the Assembly awarded certificates to the famous American lawyer Tanya Segal, as well as the co-founder of the CPA organization Nadya Levit, as well as other caring, sympathetic and selfless people who daily extend a helping hand to those who are experiencing the pain of loss, homesickness and the difficulties of adapting to a new country.
The delegation also visited the office of Assembly Member Alec Brooke-Krasny, after which State Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton warmly and respectfully introduced the organization to her colleagues on the Senate floor, and the entire chamber rose to greet the TraNa Relief Association with a loud and sustained applause.
During the three years of its active and noble work, the organization has carried out:
• 45 educational Zoom seminars, 3 hours each, with a total of 2,612 participants;
• 142 in-person events in New York and New Jersey, attracting 4,071 participants;
• dozens of vibrant holidays, fairs and warm cultural meetings that help people adapt and find new friends.
In an interview, the organization's founder Natalia Travilina admitted: "It was an incredibly touching moment for us to receive recognition in the very heart of the state. This is confirmation that our work is important not only for the families we help, but for American society as a whole."
I would like to especially mention Natalia Travilina, an energetic, charismatic female leader whose unquenchable vitality inspires everyone around her. Her energy, amazing organizational talent and sincere concern make her a real beacon of hope for refugee women, especially for mothers with children experiencing stress, anxiety and depression. Natalia creates a warm atmosphere at meetings, organizes theme evenings and holidays where songs and music are played, where children delight in creating with their own hands, and adults find comfort, faith in the best and a sense of support. Her voice, example and faith in goodness can light up hearts.

Among the awardees was CPA Nadia Levit, who conducted free seminars and helped refugees file taxes during their first, particularly challenging year in the United States.
The success of TraNa Relief Association is impossible without the selfless work of kindhearted volunteers, many of whom once went through the difficult path of immigration themselves. Their compassion, selflessness and sincere desire to help make the organization a living example of how solidarity, love for people and faith in goodness can change destinies.
