Holiday Season Safety in New York City

With the holiday season approaching, the city is stepping up security measures thanks to the efforts of the police and Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez's office. This is especially important for residents during this challenging holiday season.
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, led by Eric Gonzalez, held a pre-Hanukkah event at the Brooklyn Law School auditorium. The event was a powerful symbol of unity and mutual respect.
Brooklyn, home to the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, reaffirmed its commitment to religious freedom and support for all communities.
The event began with a film screening, where the District Attorney's office staff and historians spoke about the holiday of Hanukkah, traditional foods, and the symbolism of hope. Minora, it was noted, gives hope, and the Jewish people, despite their small numbers, bring light to the world through their discoveries and inventions.
Guests were welcomed by Professor David Meer, Dean and President of Brooklyn Law School.
Alexander Gurevich, Director of Public Relations of the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, Kings County, played a special role in organizing the event. Police Public Affairs Officer and 9/11 hero Richie Taylor gave a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of the work of the District Attorney and police in keeping residents safe, especially during the holiday season.

Mark Treyger, CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council of NY, noted the importance of the event, especially in light of the rise in anti-Semitism since the events of October 7. He called for the release of all hostages, comparing their situation to a "bleeding wound." Treyger also praised the leadership of Eric Gonzalez and his efforts to protect the people of Brooklyn.
Rabbi Eli Mansour addressed the crowd, emphasizing that America is a blessed country that offers religious freedom. He spoke about the contribution of Jews to the economy and culture and expressed hope for proactive action by the District Attorney's office and police during the holiday season, saying, "It's no secret that people are worried."
Eric Gonzalez congratulated everyone on the holiday and presented three certificates of honor: Richie Taylor, Mark Treyger and Rabbi Eli Mansour.
The ceremony was superbly hosted by Samantha Perlstein, Senior Assistant District Attorney of Kings County. Guests included Sergei Chuprik of the New York City Comptroller's Office, Manhattan President Mark Levin, representatives of Jewish organizations, students and scholars of the Flatbush Yeshiva, and representatives of various communities and religious denominations.
