Parade on 5th Avenue - demand for the release of hostages!
There is a wonderful museum in Brooklyn and next to it a beautiful botanical garden, where many admire wonderful plants, flowers and take photographs. Recently, a large pro-Palestinian rally took place outside the Brooklyn Museum. Tents were erected in the lobby and a "Free Palestine" banner was unfurled above the building. Organizers called on supporters to “de-occupy” the museum.
The NYPD said 34 people were arrested after a pro-Palestinian protest at the Brooklyn Museum, during which some art was reported damaged and security officers were harassed by demonstrators.!!! NYPD officers grabbed some protesters during the fight which broke out in the crowd outside the museum while some demonstrators threw plastic bottles and shouted insults at police. Other protesters held banners, waved Palestinian flags and chanted loudly on the steps of the Fine Arts Museum, the city's second-largest. Yes, the Brooklyn Museum has never seen anything like this. There was a time when lovers of beauty stood in line for tickets. But different times have come in society. People are still eager to go to the museum, though they are barbarians who apparently know a lot about art, including contemporary art.
There were some who wondered if Israel Day could or should happen on the 5th this year.
Thanks to JCRC-NY and UJA Federation NY partners, with support from Mayor Adams, the NYPD, state and federal leaders, and Governor Kathy Houkup, the parade was a safe and successful parade attended by hundreds of thousands of caring people.
As Mark Treyger said: “It is a mood of unwavering solidarity with the hostages to bring them home.”
It was nice to see New York Mayor Eric Adams, New York Police Commissioner Edward Caban, Deputy Chief of the New York Police Ricci Taylor, NYC Commissioner of International Affairs Edward Mermelstein, NYC Commissioner of Community Affairs Fred Kreizman, Ambassador of Peace Dr. Sima Karetnaya at the demonstration. , Eurovision 2024 participant, wonderful singer Eden Golan, General Director of JCH of Bensonherst Alex Budnitsky with a delegation of employees, City Council member Inna Vernikova, Ari Kagan and others.
O great people, who, despite everything, continue to demand, turn to politicians to let the hostages go home! A few days after the parade, the IDF and Israeli police released 4 hostages and they were returned home, but unfortunately, the operation resulted in the death of police officer Arnon Amora.
